Although the thought of not competing there still lingers in the mind of the legendary canoeist, he is not bitter and is aware of what he had achieved as an athlete and then as a sports administrator. He treated his successes with dignity and respect, but he never bragged about them, he just did his job in the sport he felt he had the best instincts for. For some years now, he has been passing on his knowledge to young athletes, while he was chosen as one of the Athletes of the Nation at the beginning of February.
